Learn to sail with us on beautiful Ullswater. Ullswater Sailing School, which is part of Ullswater Yacht Club, runs a full range of courses to suit all ages and experiences - whether you are a complete novice or an accomplished sailor who wishes to polish your skills. We have a superb fleet of boats (16) to suit all ages and experience levels including Toppers, Picos, Comets, Fevas, Bahias and Laser Stratos. Our programme runs from May until October with something available most weeks. There are great clubhouse facilities, including changing rooms, and ample parking. Please contact our Sailing Manager to book your course or learn more about the courses and experiences available. Powerboat experiences and training are available too.

Ullswater Sailing School is delighted to be part of the RYA's OnBoard programme which aims to introduce a minimum of 500,000 children to sailing in the UK over a ten year period. Ullswater Yacht Club
Welcome to the Ullswater Yacht Club in the Lake District. Our family friendly club caters for all sorts of sailors from young to old, beginners to experts, leisure sailors to racing sailors.
Our Club House enjoys spectacular views across Ullswater and has an extensive range of modern facilities including changing and shower facilities, toilets with disabled access, a main club and lecture room and licensed bar. Full professional catering facilities are available each weekend and also during events and holidays.
We run an extensive racing programme which is open to all members throughout the season. Every weekend there is class and handicap racing including a junior series for the younger members. There is also a regular Friday series of relaxed cruiser racing for members who prefer a more informal approach to their sailing.
Many open events are hosted including the famous Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy, held annually in the first weekend in July, which attracts around 200 boats every year. Click for this year’s UYC Race and Event Calendar.
Several members are qualified sailing instructors and coaches and the club is a recognised RYA training centre. The youngsters of the thriving Topper fleet benefit from regular training and during the school summer holidays there is a five-day sail camp for juniors.
There are numerous social events throughout the season, including barbecues, discos, entertainment, training and lectures.
We are always happy to welcome new members to the Sailing Club, so if you’re looking for a great friendly place to sail in the Lake District, UYC is the perfect venue. We can arrange a trial sail in a member's boat.You do not need to have a boat to join.
